Considering a Radiator Guard

I'm not sure how needed these things are--unless you find out you needed one too late, I guess. It's never been an issue for me in 12 or 13 years of FJR riding, but now I've got this new one and I'm feeling kind of protective. What do you think of them? And how about a specific recommendation if you have one? Appreciate any input. Thanks.

They are relatively inexpensive and easy to install…look for one on ebay from china, but a fenda extenda will stop the crap from hitting the rad in the first place

Really? I figured the Chinese ones might be a touch--plastic.

I have a chromed Cox guard on my 2011.
I have a $18 AliExpress aluminum one on my F700GS. Fenda Extenda (or Asian knockoff) on both.
The AliExpress is not too bad although it might not stop a good sized rock. People have made them out of a wire wastebasket...
The AliExpress ones for the FJR are going to be under $40 vs three to four times that for the Cox...

On the short list of must-do farkles on any FJR I acquire is the Cox Radiator Guard and a Fenda Extenda. Cheap insurance. Also on the list is upgraded horns and V-Strom hand guards.

I bought a chinesium one off ebay for my BMW…if it’s not structural and it’s out of sight, then I go cheap. I did have to give it a wipe with a damp cloth to get the childrens blood off it.
