Rotor Bolt Removal?

Sigh. KrZy8 needs new-to-me rotors installed.
Trying to break old bolts free. Factory uses loctite or equivalent.
No biggie, heat the bolt and surrounding area with propane torch, get it nice and warm to loosen the loctite..
Then get Big Ass Hammer (BAH) and impact driver, right?
NOPE.
Any ideas? Go straight to the air impact, Big Bertha, instead of BAH?

Not long after I got my '08, I bent the rim. I had it fixed but needed to remove the rotors and bearings. I just used an electric impact gun with a quality bit. The bolts came out fast, no problems.

Use a butane soldering iron on the heads of the bolts to melt the loctite..hold it on the head for 2-4 minutes..

I believe the factory uses green Loctite. The green stuff is designed to use heat in order to remove the bolts. I used a propane torch on the bolt heads when I did mine.

Yes heat will help, yes BFH and brand new bit in the impact driver.... use blue loctite going back in if you didn't bugger up the heads.
Pssst, I got lucky, haven't had to use the heat trick... yet. I keep a few spare new bolts handy. The good book says use new ones, but that's because of the green loctite.

Humility is a good thing, yes?
Took wheel to local independent shop, C&H in Atascadero. Returned an hour later and all was done. Herb looked at me and WTFO? All he used was an impact wrench and BAH. I'm thinking I need a new impact wrench. The one I have is like 40 years old and a 'cheapie' even back in the day.
Cause I mean I was wailing on it with a BAH. Then again I'm a Candy Butt Association guy and a manly man!
Next time will use electric/air impact. Sometimes the trick is to know how much force is appropriate, cause I know what happens when one exceeds that threshold.
New bolts installed with blue Loctite, new-to-me rotors and new PR5 installed. Even cleaned the hub since the rotors were off!
Thanks guys for advice.

They can be a bitch. Heat and impact driver tool has always worked for me. Not always easily. I would say about 20-30% of the time I can re-use bolts, but usually the hex head is rounded enough that I replace them. Didn't the replacements already have loctite on them?

Yep, just pulled the rear rotor off my ‘03 - exactly as you described.
Correction - I used a butane pen torch.

No, SkooterG, bare threads.

My error too. Used a small butane torch. I think the key is to use a dead blow Hammer.
