Well? What the heck is this?

I've seen / done this on other sites. It is a thread that tracks the evolution of your bike (in this case) from a showroom virgin (or new to you) to it's current state. It all starts so innocently - those reflective decals look neat. I like those grips. Next thing you know, there's a box from Givi and Ohlin's sitting on the front porch...

Let's see 'em - where you started, where you're at, and where's it's heading.

Russell Day-Long Seat the best mod on my motorcycle. Before this mod the FJR was something of a novelty as I could only ride 150 miles/day. Now 600+ miles is no problem.
FZ1 mirrors part numbers 5LV-26280-00-00 and 5LV-26290-00-00. The stock mirrors are not wide enough and and I quickly tired of the "chicken wing thing".
PIAA Slim Line Sports Horn Kit a 400hz and 500hz horn. They are loud - much better than the stock horns which sound like the road runner with laryngitis.
Cox Radiator guard - the stock guard one allows small stone to pass such as those found on recently chip sealed roads.
Hyper-Lite Red Running Lamp
Kisan Electronics trailBlazer flashing brake lamps.
Garauld's Refreshment System allows you to drink water without a Camelback.
GP Suspension in front with a Penske shock in the rear. Awesome. Those who live in the Pac Northwest can get this done at KFG Racing in Auburn Wa.

Bought an 04 with 44K in late November, rode it 150 miles before it went in the garage on the lift. I often buy a gentleman's express in the fall for a "light" winter project, HAH! While looking at a pic of it I had posted to a forum I saw a dented front rim. So it began.
bought a good used rim from Iggy. while pulling the front wheel I found where the PO had cleaned up the evidence of a leaky fork seal pretty good. So ordered fork seals and bushings. Fork tubes checked out straight, whew, then found the RH caliper dust seals had swelled from the fork oil leak and were sticking out. So new caliper kits and pads ordered. Fork bushings and seals in, brake calipers rebuilt. Found the steering bearings were notchy. looks like water had gotten in, races were corroded. All-balls tapered bearing and seals in. Got a touring windscreen, handle bar extenders and a like new stock seat from an ebay ad. Bought a bakup drivers backrest and with some fiddling to make it fit "right" have that on. grabbed and installed FZ1 mirrors while the forks were out. put in LED headlights, also while forks were off. Added a tender connection to the battery. Swapped the tire over to the new wheel. Still need to set up switched power and brackets for cell phone/tablet GPS. Looking and thinking about luggage capacity, cause I like to MC camp, wife won't be along on a planned solar eclipse trip to Wyoming next August. Cruise is on the wish list also.

What LED headlamp bulbs did you go with and how do you like them?

LEDs are Broview S5 I had installed one on my Royal Star venture and liked it a lot, put about 4,000 miles on it. I did a video showing a-b with the led on one side the halogen on the other.



So far just the shop wall on the FJR.

I found I had to lower the headlight aim with the LED bulb compared to the halogen to achieve the same "cut off" line.
White backed signs are REAL bright/glarish in the LED high beam. That's about the only downside so far. These bulbs have a better diffusion above the cut off on low beam. HIDs I have used tended to make the cut off TOO sharp, nothing but black above it.

Wayne, I'll bite...my son and I "built" the new FJ-09 I bought in October 2015 for him to ride. We ordered quite the pile of farkles...and then over 2 days in February of 2016 we set to installing them...the pics follow...

Very nice. Curious what cruise did you use and what controls?

That is an MCCruise unit from the Aussie guys. They built a interface harness to allow me to use the SuperTen switch set without chopping up the factory harness. Everything was plug and play. I went to far as to source OEM connectors and the proper crimping tool so I could use OEM connectors on all of the other electrical farkles I added. GPS, LED signals, Pro-Oiler GPS controlled oiler, etc. all are connected with OEM style connectors. I can unplug everything we added and have it back to stock in about an hour.

Excellent post - in fact, it deserves it's own thread - maybe a "FJ-09 eye candy" thread, I know there is at least one other floating around there (** cough ** Lee **cough).
