Rubber drain plug in bottom of Accessory box

I need to run a headphone cable from my iPhone located in the accessory box..Is the rubber plug in the bottom of the box to drain water out?...Can it be removed without issue?..I suppose I could simply notch the lid, but I’m afraid of creating a leak..

I run all my comm wires in to the glovebox via the hole for the 12v outlet (12v outlet removed); I'd say anything is better than notching the lid as that would allow for water to work it's way in.

Mine closes with a small iPhone cord just hanging out. They may “flat” wires that are covered in a braided cloth. That is my favorite. It isn’t nearly as thick as the other ones and the lid closes easily.

Don’t drill it, just run the wire out.

I accidentally pushed the rubber plug out of the bottom of the glove box the first year I owned my bike. Ran a power cord through that opening for a long time as I couldn't find the rubber plug anywhere. Found it when we stripped all the tupperware to do a valve check. It's now back in it's opening but i never had any trouble with water getting it through that bottom hole and I've ridden in some absolutely horrible weather.

drill a hole in the side and fit the appropriate grommet to make it water resistant

As said above, running a thin cable underneath the closed lid will not let water in. My iPhone power cord has run under the closed lid for over 55,000 miles in all kinds of weather without incident.
