Re: It’s that tire time again
From my own experience, that RS3 rear did not develop the heavy steering due to a "squared off" profile at end of life. It was still very neutral handling. One of the things I really liked about them.
There's just too much what the f@$k in this thread to know where to begin...

And Alex doesn't mind mounting it for you...sounds like a win-win.

Re: It’s that tire time again
What kind of tire life are people getting out of the Road Smart tires? Anyone who typically rides 2-up, how are these tires? Are you sure it's the tires which are good and not the ad copy?

Re: It’s that tire time again
This is a 6k mile rear RS3 compared to brand new after 5k mile to Nova Scotia and back from Chicago and another 1k mile Chicago commute. Single rider, 175lb wet and about 210lb gross on the Nova Scotia trip with gear and luggage.

Re: It’s that tire time again
^^^^^ Hmm, 6k miles, through tread features but not yet into the center of the tire wear bars. That would be 2+ sets/year vs one set of PR4.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: It’s that tire time again
Rule #1 Alan...as you know. Everyone rides differently.
The only meaningful mileage statement that can be made regarding tires is:
Rider A
Tire A - xxxx miles
Tire B - xxxx miles (on same roads as tire A) x some factor
Riders B through ZZZ can only infer that they would have similar factor as Rider A on Tire B vs Tire A.
That is all. period.

Re: It’s that tire time again
What tires? The ones I can afford easily. I am convinced that I ride my FJR nowhere close to a modern tire's performance limits .... so that extra 2% of ability by one type over another is wasted on me.
PS: Despite my claims to ride like a grandma, I'm pretty sure I can keep up with almost all y'all.

You keep stopping to pick up "points".
No way you can keep up.
