Ahh, Tifton. Sooze and I stayed in Tifton several years ago. There was a tour bus in the parking lot next to the hotel. It was a "Girls Gone Wild" tour bus. And the parking lot? Cracker Barrel. Yah - "Girls Gone Wild" goes to Cracker Barrel....

At the end of the day I was about 120 miles from home on the road I actually live on but I could not get the XT to take my straight down that road to my house.

I had that exact same experience last year on my way to EOM - that was my first trip with my XT. I think it's called Garmin's "Adventure Routing." It can be switched off.

Good to know. Don't think I would go that route up here where the temperatures do dip quite a bit and since I'm a (cheap) frugal SOB think I could go 3 or 4 AGMs to the price of the lithium.

More likely just 2 unless you use really cheap batteries. I paid 'just' $175 for the Motobatt lithium.

Rode with BigOgre yesterday, about 320 miles for me. Couldn't tell any difference in weight reduction but I am certainly not a track racer who looks for every advantage. I like that my bike now spins a lot faster when I press the start button.

Now I need to find whatever it is that's keeping my cruise control from setting. I'll turn it on but the amber light blinks and it won't set. I can get it to reset by cycling the ignition. I rode for a while using just the front brake, didn't happen. Then I rode for a while using just the rear brake, didn't happen.

I had to adjust my rear brake pedal sensor switch. Well, Wayne had to adjust my rear brake pedal sensor switch.

Been told it's a common problem.

Recall last year of front brake light switch of 2013+ and 2016+ transmission.

The front brake light switch keeps the brake light on and prevents cruise control from engaging. Has happened to me a time or two. I pushed the brake lever out and regained use of cruise control.

Would like to have a brake light light on the instrument panel similar to what my Subaru and Tesla have.

When I finally realized it was time to bite the bullet since the OE wouldn't hold a charge after 10 years I was looking online and think it was only Bike Bandit that had something in stock and they showed 3 different ones but there was only one with the exact same dimensions as mine. Happened to be a cheapie but I needed it now so I figured give it a shot. Think I paid about 50 bucks or there abouts can't even remember the name but I figured it would last me till I could get another Yusa. It's going on 3 years and still going so seems ok.

Okay today was pretty nice so pumped up the air pressure in my new tires to try it out. Went with 40 front 43 rear and took a little shakedown ride to check my newly upgraded fork springs and see if I needed to readjust my suspension settings. Tires liked the pressure and I'm liking my new Roadtec 01 SEs but could just be new tire syndrome, time will tell. Think I might try to soften up the suspension settings. The roads around here are horrible. So after a little bit I'm noticing a lot of heat thinking maybe when the dealer was doing the ignition switch recall might have been under the tank, maybe failed to replace the insulation, can't determine what's really going on so I pull over to check and realize when I was moving the bike around to air up I must've leaned against and turned on the switch for my heated seat. My ass was on fire for an hour before I finally figured it out.

Well, I finally did something. This is a season of work busyness, and I am ashamed at the lack of riding time. I finally got off my butt and finished changing the clutch and brake fluids yesterday. Today I woke up at 6am and started a half day therapy ride at 7am. The absolute time to ride...low sunlight and no one on these perfect roads. It has been so long that I just started out on 276 north trying to get my motorcycle muscle memory back. Headed west into Pickens County and up 178/215, staying within my envelope. That road is so good, it gets the rust off quickly. I'm sure Lumberg and jwilly would have been snoozing at that pace, but I was having a blast. Up to the BRP north to 74/23west, then 107 south/281 south/Charlie's Creek Rd to 215 south again for the rollercoaster ride. About 4 hours riding to and from the double wide. Petey was right about ride therapy.

The itch was scratched. I can go on with life now.

There are no trick or difficulties in fastening the calipers as long as you compress the brake pistons fully in. Just be sure the pistons are well-cleaned before putting the pads on, and before compressing them back into the caliper. It's actually not a hard job at all. Be aware that when you push in the pistons it can fill, or overfill the brake fluid reservoir, especially if you have added or changed fluid as the brake wore down. Be prepared to remove some fluid and protect your paint in case it overflows.

Oil and filter change then washed the crud off of it from our vacation. Will be swapping tires before SEO.

T-valves not necessary. The short OE rubber valves don’t seem to have any trouble with TPMS, but I wouldn’t replace a tire without using some sort of 99% metal valve stem if TPMS is in the future.

$10/pair right angle from Amazon work very well.

The rubber valves will fail under a tpms cap. Even running them temporarily, waiting for a tire change to install T-stems, my rubber valves developed a pronounced permanent lean.

I don’t think they’d have made it much longer. Very short term, I’m sure they’d be fine.

Today, I built a couple of jack stand "lifter boxes" and a front wheel chock:





Natehawk is coming over next weekend. We'll grease his relay arm bearings and while we have all the tools out, do mine as well. it's easier and much more stable to lift the bike and place the rear sets on the stands than to suspend the bike, IMO.

I'm trying to get Redfish and his Pop to come over so we can do theirs as well and make it a fine tech day. I even offered to stock up on one of his favorite "beers" (using that term generically) he likes to drink (Miller ponies).
